Grant Thompson is the man behind the popular YouTube science channel The King of Random. He created his channel in 2010 and it has amassed over nine million subscribers and over 1 billion views.
His channel description says "I make videos dedicated to exploring life through all kinds of life hacks, experiments, and random weekend projects. Imagine a cross between MacGyver, James Bond, and the Myth-busters."[1]
His most popular video is "How to Make LEGO Gummy Candy." His first video to go viral was "Burning Stuff With 2000ºF Solar Power!!" It was his fourth video and had been posted for about a year with only a few thousand views. But things changed when someone with National Public Radio saw it and wrote an article about it. He gained more subscribers in the next two weeks than he had in the previous year.[2]
Thompson is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
