Nate Edwards is a photographer with Brigham Young University. He was named the 2017 National Photographer of the Year at the annual symposium of the University Photographer’s Association of America. This was his first Photographer of the Year award. He is the third BYU photographer to receive the honor (Mark Philbrick and Jaren Wilkey have previously won the award).
Five of Edwards’s six prints placed in the Annual Print Competition and he won the top award in the Monthly Image Competition.
In 2018, Edwards was named the 2018 National Photographer of the Year. All six of his prints placed in the Annual Print Competition, including three first place wards (portrait, sports features, and features and illustrations).
Edwards is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He earned a BS degree from Utah Valley University with an emphasis in photography. After graduating in 2013, he has worked for the Church photographing for the Ensign, Liahona, and New Era magazines, as well as the Church's General conference. He worked as the Photography Manager for Marketing and Communications at Utah Valley University for two years before he began working as the Assistant Manager of Visual Communications for BYU Photo in 2016.
