Holly and Brad Lauritzen took a very, basic spec home near Austin, Texas, and set the goal of infusing it with their personal style by creating a different wood feature wall in every room. Holly browsed through American Farmhouse Style, Pinterest, and Instagram looking for ideas. Then Brad took those images and made them happen. Along the way, they posted on Instagram. In the few years since they began their Instagram account (in September 2016), Our Faux Farmhouse has attracted over 860,000 followers.

When Brad lost his job in December 2019 thanks to corporate cutbacks, he and Holly decided to fully invest in their “side hustles”—Our Faux Farmhouse and Urban Sips + Sweets. In November 2020, they announced to their followers that they were selling their Texas farmhouse and moving to Nashville, Tennessee, where they will continue to build their businesses.

Holly and Brad are the parents of five children. They are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and share expressions of their faith with their followers.

“I’ve been able to talk to a lot of people and just tell them about why we are the way we are, why we seem to have this life, and it’s because of the Gospel,” Holly said, explaining her followers will often initiate conversations over direct message or email.
“They email and say ‘It seems like you have some great kids. What are you doing?’” Holly said. When this happens, the mother of five is quick to point to her faith. “I’ve been able to have some really sincere, deep conversations about the gospel.”[1]
