Leon Parson is a North American wildlife artist. His work is regularly featured on the covers of sporting magazines and publications. More than 50 of his works are collectable as limited edition lithographs and giclées. He is on the art faculty at Brigham Young University-Idaho, where he has taught drawing, design, color, illustration, and oil painting. He has also served as chairman of the Art department.
Parson is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was commissioned by the Church to paint murals that adorn the walls of the Rexburg Idaho Temple and the Twin Falls Idaho Temple.
He grew up in southeastern Idaho in an artistic family. His father, Oliver, was an artist and art professor, and brothers Del and Nolan are also professional artists.
Parson earned an Associate in Art and Science from Ricks College, a Bachelor of Fine Art in Illustration from the Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, California), and a Master of Fine Art in Illustration from Syracuse University (New York).
Parson is among the top wildlife artists in the world and has received numerous regional, national, and international awards and honors. He is a member of the Society of Animal Artists (SAA) and the Worldwide Nature Artists Group (WNAG).
He and his wife, Kathryn, live in Rexburg, Idaho, and are the parents of seven children.
