Taylor Randall was appointed president of the University of Utah and took the helm on August 9, 2021. He was dean of the David Eccles School of Business from 2009 to 2021. He is the first University of Utah president in 50 years who is a graduate of the university.
Randall served as a professor of accounting for 11 years. His father and grandfather were also University of Utah professors. He has been honored as the best teacher in the business school’s Master of Business Administration program, Executive MBA program and undergraduate programs as well as a Brady Superior Teaching Award winner, which is a career achievement award.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah with honors in accounting and then earned an MBA and PhD in operations and information management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
He and his wife, Janet, are the parents of four children. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission in Barcelona, Spain.
