Wendy Swore is the author of A Monster Like Me, a gold winner in the 2019 Foreword Indies Book of the Year awards in the juvenile fiction category, and a Whitney Finalist. She also wrote The Wish and the Peacock.
A Monster Like Me addresses the difficulties of having a hemangioma. Swore endured that difficulty as a child and the resulting bullying. Later it was deflated and removed.
While a child, she moved often with her family. Her father was a crop duster and his job took them where there were bugs and blight.
She and her husband and five children live on a farm on the Sho-Ban reservation in Idaho. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
