Nick Heninger, a 2021 Burlsworth Trophy Nominee, helped his Utah State University team take the 2021 Mountain West Conference title. He was named the Defensive Most Valuable Player in the December 18 Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl in Inglewood, California.

It was the second time he was nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy, given to the most outstanding football player in America who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field.

Heninger graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He is pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree with a specialization in Data Analytics.

He was considered one of the best outside linebackers in Utah during his senior year at Bingham High School in South Jordan, Utah. At the University of Utah, he spent three seasons as a defensive end.

Heninger is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in the Philippines.
