In his closing remarks at the April 2022 General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct a temple in Santos, Brazil. The Santos Brazil Temple is the 16th announced temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Brazil.[1]
Santos is a southeastern port city in the state of São Paulo. There are nearly 1.5 million Latter-day Saints in Brazil in more than 2,100 congregations.[2]
Location
The Santos Brazil Temple is currently in the planning stages. The Santos Brazil Temple will be built at Avenida Doutor Waldemar Leão, 305, Jabaquara, Santos, São Paulo, Brazil. Plans call for a two-story temple of approximately 23,000 square feet. This will be the city’s first temple and the third temple in the greater São Paulo metropolitan area.
