Zerubbabel Snow, a brother to Erastus Snow, was an early leader in the Church of Jesus Christ and after immigrating to Utah Territory, he served as a Supreme Court Justice and Attorney General.
He was born on March 29, 1809, in St. Johnsbury, Caledonia, Vermont.
He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1832 by Orson Pratt. The same year he was ordained an elder by Joseph Smith and Frederick G. Williams.
Snow served missions to Ohio and Virginia, the Eastern United States, and Australia. He also served as a member of Zion’s Camp. In 1835, he was ordained a seventy and became a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.
He married Susan Slater Lang in 1833 and she died after delivering their only child, Susan Lizette Snow, in March 1841. He married Mary Augusta Hawkins in August 1841, with whom he had six children. Wikipedia reports that he married Mary Lavina Stone Sawyer and together they did not have children, although she had a son by a previous marriage whom Snow considered one of his children.
Snow practiced law in Ohio from 1839 to 1850. In 1845 he was elected as Mayor of Canton for a one year term. He served as an associate justice of the Utah Territorial Supreme Court from 1850 to 1854. On February 19, 1869, he was elected as the Attorney General of the territory.
Snow died on September 27, 1888, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
