The term Freemen in the Book of Mormon refers to a group of Nephites who supported the leader Pahoran and Captain Moroni. They opposed the efforts of the King-men who desired to establish a monarchy.

And those who were desirous that Pahoran should remain chief judge over the land took upon them the name of freemen; and thus was the division among them, for the freemen had sworn or covenanted to maintain their rights and the privileges of their religion by a free government.Alma 51:6–7

The Freemen are driven out of the land of Zarahemla by the dissenters[1], but through the assistance of Captain Moroni, they help restore Pahoran to the judgment seat and retain their rights of freedom.Alma 62:1–9
