Corianton was a son of Alma the Younger and is known for the instructions his father gave him regarding the consequences of sin and the Atonement. (See Alma 39 through 42.)

Corianton joined his father, his older brother Shiblon, Ammon, Aaron, Omner, Amulek, and Zeezrom on a mission to the Zoramites.[1]

Rather than being a steady and faithful missionary, Corianton did "go on unto boasting in thy strength and thy wisdom," did not tend to his ministry, and instead "did go over into the land of Siron among the borders of the Lamanites, after the harlot Isabel."[2] Because of his conduct, Alma tells him, the Zoramites "would not believe in my words" (v. 11).

Alma then exlains to Corianton the importance of chastity, the reality of the coming of Jesus Christ, the need for repentance and the plan of redemption, the Atonement of Christ, and the resurrection.

Turn to the Lord with all your mind, might, and strength; that ye lead away the hearts of no more to do wickedly; but rather return unto them, and acknowledge your faults and that wrong which ye have done. . . .[3]
Go thy way, declare the word with truth and soberness, that thou mayest bring souls unto repentance, that the great plan of mercy may have claim upon them.[4]

Corianton apparently took his reproof and Alma's teachings to heart, for he repented of his actions, and became an effective missionary, helping to establish peace (see Alma 49:30).

Corianton is again mentioned in Alma 63:10 as one who had gone to the land northward by ship to carry provisions to the people who had gone to that land.
