FARMS
The Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies is an organization affiliated with Brigham Young University, and now under the wing of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship. FARMS is known for publishing and promoting historical research related to the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, and church history.
Formerly known as the Institute for the Study and Preservation of Ancient Religious Texts, FARMS was established in 1979 as a private not-for-profit organization. In 1997 FARMS became part of Brigham Young University. In 2001, Brigham Young University consolidated FARMS with the Center for the Preservation of Ancient Religious Texts and the Middle Eastern Texts Initiative to form the Institute for the Study and Preservation of Ancient Religious Texts, which later became the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship.
The quality work supported by FARMS that is subsequently published either by FARMS or by other academic publishers, conforms to established canons of scholarship, is peer reviewed, and reflects solely the views of individual authors and editors. It represents an important contribution to the broad field of Mormon studies.
