Glen Edwards Mormon Artist

Glen Edwards is an oil painter and watercolorist and art professor. He has widely exhibited in juried international, national, state, regional, and local exhibits. He has been awarded for his work in Western art, American Plains art, and Southwest art. He was awarded the 2010 Artist’s Retreat Award in the American Plains Artists’ 26th Annual Juried Exhibit at the Great Plains Art Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska. Some of his other awards include the U.S. Art Magazine Bronze Medal Award of Excellence; the Judges Choice Award; and the Orion Goe Jillson Native America Heritage Award; Silver Medal Award for the Oil Painters of America National and Regional Exhibits; First Place Watercolor Award and First Place Oil Painting Award at the Dixie College Invitational; and Featured Artist, Best of Show, Purchase Awards at the Festival of the American West; Intermountain Society of Artists Best of Show; and Eccles Statewide Exhibit Purchase Award.

His paintings, “Legacy” and “Gallery of the Ancients” were reproduced as limited edition prints, two of his paintings appeared on Arts for the Parks Calendars, and “Home from the High Country” was issued as a note card. His paintings and illustrations also have been featured on covers and inside numerous books, magazines, and publications. Dell Book, Signet Book, and Field and Stream Magazine are some of his clients.

Edwards began his career in graphic design and advertising. He then started the art department at Utah State University and taught there for over thirty years. He is a native of Preston, Idaho, and is married to artist Barbara Summers Edwards. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
