Deanie Wimmer

Nadine "Deanie" Wimmer co-anchors KSL News in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is committed to education and won a regional Emmy award for her coverage of the Utah teacher’s shortage. She leads KSL’s literacy initiative, Read Today, which won the Emmy Service to America Award for contributions to literacy in Utah.

Wimmer was born and raised in Salt Lake City and earned her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Utah in 1989. She also holds a master’s degree in political communication from the university. She attended a fellows program on education and journalism through the University of Washington. While an undergrad, she participated in a Hinckley internship in Washington, DC, at The Fund for American Studies located at Georgetown University. This internship led her to an internship with KSL, which led into a job with the station.

At KSL, she moved through responsibilities such as weekend anchor, political reporter, general assignment reporter, and producer.

Wimmer lives in Park City, Utah, and is married to Phil Kirk. They have two sons. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
