Hyrum Osmond Mormon Animator

Hyrum Virl Osmond, son of Virl Osmond, one of the nonperforming Osmond brothers, is an animator. He is known for his work on Disney’s Zootopia (2016),Frozen (2013), Wreck-It Ralph (2012), and Tangled (2010). He is a supervising animator at Disney Animation Studios. He was one of the heads of animation for the movie Moana (2016). He is the director of At Home with Olaf, shorts created while both Osmond and Josh Gad—the voice of Olaf—were working at home due to COVID-19.

As supervising animator for Olaf the Snowman, he was tasked to bring the character to life for Frozen and said he also animated a nod to his uncle Donny Osmond in the character Prince Hans during the song “Love Is an Open Door.” While Hans is belting out a high note under a waterfall, he closes his eyes and raises his arm in a copy of a signature move by Donny Osmond. Hyrum said, “I requested that shot, just because I knew that that was the perfect moment to kind of pepper in that Donny Osmond feel to it.”[1]

He studied animation at Brigham Young University. He and his wife, Becky, are the parents of four children. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
