Glenn L. Pace
Glenn L. Pace was sustained as a General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 6, 1985. He served as Second Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric until October 3, 1992, when he was sustained as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy. While serving in that quorum he served as the first president of the Australia Sydney North Mission, in the Sunday School general presidency, and as the Second Counselor in the Young Men general presidency. He was designated emeritus General Authority on October 2, 2010.
Pace was born in Provo, Utah, on March 21, 1940. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Brigham Young University. He worked for financial firms and was the chief financial officer for a land development firm. In 1980 he made a shift in his career path and began working for the Church as financial manager for the Church welfare services. In July 1981, he became managing director. In this role he was able to tour underdeveloped countries, including a trip to Ethiopia with M. Russell Ballard, to direct disbursement of Church donations for famine relief.
He wrote three books, Spiritual Plateaus (1991), Spiritual Revival (1993), and Safe Journey: An African Adventure (2003).
He and his wife, Jolene, are the parents of six children.
Pace battled serious heart problems for over a decade and passed away on May 16, 2017.
