John H. Taylor

John Harris Taylor was a former leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as one of the seven presidents of the Seventy from 1933 till his passing on May 28, 1946.

He was ordained a Seventy on January 24, 1896, by Elder Heber J. Grant. He later married one of Elder Grant’s daughters, Susan Rachel Grant. They had two children.

He also served on the general board of the YMMIA. He presided over the Northern States Mission from 1923 to 1928. He and his wife were then called to preside over the Missionary Home in Salt Lake City, a precursor to the current Missionary Training Centers. He served a mission to England from 1896 to 1898, and to Holland from 1907 to 1909.

Taylor graduated from the Chicago College of Dental Surgery in 1901 and practiced in Salt Lake City.

He was born on June 28, 1875. His paternal grandfather, John Taylor, served as third president of the Church.
