Don Aslett
Is an Idaho businessman known for his cleaning products and services. He was raised on farms in south central Idaho. He had an Entreprenual spirit as a young boy when his income from farm chores did not pay him enough. He had lds heritage and was baptized at age eight. However his family did not attend the lds church regularly but Protestand and nondenominational community churches.
He did earn a pretty good living off of farm projects particularly for 4-h and FFA projects. He also excelled in athletics, the School publications and political offices in the small school he attended.
While attending Idaho State College (now Idaho State University) he realized his income from various farm projects would run out so he found a job at a soda bottling factory. But not liking all the mandatory deductions he with some friends started a housecleaning business named varsity contractors. While at Idaho State he also started attending the lds church thanks to the influence of people on campus and lds friends and adults he knew in High School.
He served briefly in the army then went on a mission to the Hawaiin Islands. UPon his return he married Barbara Morris and used the cleaning business to finance himself through school. It took him eight years to get his degree but he finally recieved one in teaching while working his way through as a cleaner. He also participated on the Baseball and debate teams at Idaho State University.
Following college he taught briefly and coached in the public schools and coached as well while running his business after hours and on saturdays and summers.
He eventually stopped teaching High School to devote fulltime to his business with a friend of his. His company has grown to all 50 states and parts of Canada.
He spent most of his adult life in Pocatello Idaho with a brief stint in Sun Valley he has cleaned in many places. In addition to his janitorial work he has written many books on how to clean your home, office and business, Advice on time management, how to succeed in business and how to be a good employee and employer.
He regularly makes appearences on several Radio and Television shows, Among them Ophray Winfrey, the Discovery channel and QVC. He is also a much sought after speaker telling about his rise to the top.
HE has served many years in Scouting and as a Bishop and High Councilor. He recently with his wife served a mission to Boston Massachusetts as well. His company is wellknown and he is still active in day to day operations with many cleaning centers starting up throughout the intermountain wes. He has tried many things with his business and some were succesful and others he learned lessons from. In 1993 he was named Idaho Business leader of the year.
