Katherine Thompson Nelson is a songwriter, singer, and actress. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Nelson is one of eight children. She began singing at the age of three and told her mother that someday she would have a song on the radio. She moved from her native southern California to Utah after high school.

Her first CD, “Sometimes He Lets It Rain,” was recorded in 2003. Her second CD was “Most Requested” (2009). In 2012, she released “Born Brave,” an album written particularly for women. She also sings with the Nashville Tribute Band. As a duet or compilation artist, she has contributed to the production of more than thirty CDs.

Her first acting role was in a 2004 “Liken the Scriptures” film, “Ammon and King Lamoni.” In 2005, she landed the starring role of Emma in “Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration” and in 2008, “Emma Smith: My Story.” She appeared in “17 Miracles” (2011), “Jonah and the Great Fish” (2011), and “Ephraim’s Rescue” (2013).

Nelson and her husband Josh Thompson and four children live in Missouri.
