Alvord is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was born in California on December 11, 1992, and continues to make California her home, although she travels worldwide to tour and perform. She plays the piano, which she learned how to play in elementary school. At age 14, she learned how to play the guitar, and has added playing the ukulele to her abilities. She wrote her first song when she was ten years old.

Before her music blossomed, she focused on gymnastics and competed for four years. She has also done some screen work. She is slated to star in an independent movie, So Broken Up, and was a photo double for Sofia Vassilieva in the major motion picture My Sister’s Keeper.
