Hyrum Osmond: Mormon Animator
Hyrum Virl Osmond, son of Virl Osmond, one of the nonperforming Osmond Brothers is an animator. He is known for his work on Disney’s Frozen (2013), Wreck-It Ralph (2012), and Tangled (2010). He is a supervising animator at Disney Animation Studios.
As supervising animator for Olaf the Snowman, he was tasked to bring the character to life for Frozen and said he also animated a nod to his uncle Donny Osmond in the character Prince Hans during the song “Love Is an Open Door.” While Hans is belting out a high note under a waterfall, he closes his eyes and raises his arm in a copy of a signature move by Donny Osmond. Hyrum said, “I requested that shot, just because I knew that that was the perfect moment to kind of pepper in that Donny Osmond feel to it.”[1]
He studied animation at Brigham Young University. He and his wife, Becky, are the parents of four children. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
