Niki Covington Mormon Artist

Niki Covington is a painter and sculptor and has studied painting, sculpture, and classical architecture at academies in Europe and the United States, including the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, the Grand Central Academy and the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art (ICAA) in New York. He was awarded the Prix de Rome fellowship for his private research in Rome, Jerusalem, Istanbul, and Japan.

He is a board member of the ICAA. He instructs at the Beaux-Arts Academy where he is also assistant director.

Covington is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Ensign Magazine featured him in its August 2017 “Portraits of Faith” section. He said:

As I’ve studied the roots of the arts, I’ve come to learn that the arts have a very sacred root in God. He is the author of all beauty, virtue, and truth. All forms of beauty emanate from Him. This has been a great discovery for me as an artist. Hopefully, through the workmanship of my hands, I can leave this as a testimony for my children and others.
