Douglas D. Holmes
Douglas D. Holmes was sustained as first counselor in the Young Men general presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 4, 2015. He had been serving as a counselor in his stake presidency at the time of his call.
He presided over the Michigan Detroit Mission from 2010 to 2013 and has served as ward Young Men president, counselor in a stake Young Men presidency, gospel doctrine teacher, bishop, and elders quorum president. He served as a full-time missionary in the Scotland Glasgow Mission.
He and his wife, Erin, are the parents of six children. He was born on February 27, 1961, and grew up in the Salt Lake City area. He received his bachelor’s degree in family science and his MBA in finance, both from Brigham Young University. He is self-employed as an investor and developer. He has been employed with the telecommunications industry, specifically TensorComm, Inc., Media One, US West Media Group, and Time Warner Telecom.
He also has a long association with nonprofit organizations, having served as chairman of the board for United Way of Davis County, Utah, and board member of the Safe Harbor Women’s Shelter in Davis County. He co-founded and chaired Parents for Choice in Education and was vice chairman of the Academy for Creating Enterprise.
