Lynne Wilson: Mormon Scholar

Lynne Hilton Wilson is a wife, mother, scholar, teacher, and author. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University focusing on nursing and the cello. After her seventh child entered school, she returned to her studies and earned a master’s degree in religious studies. Her thesis focused on Christ’s birth narratives in the New Testament. She then earned a PhD degree in theology and American history at Marquette University.

She was an adjunct professor at BYU and is an institute director and teacher at the Stanford-Menlo Park Stake Institute of Religion. She has been a volunteer in the Church Educational System in France, Belgium, and Wisconsin. She is also a popular speaker and lecturer. She has written three books, including Christ’s Emancipation of Women in the New Testament. She is a research fellow for BYU Studies, the Maxwell Institute, and Interpreter.

Wilson lives in Palo Alto, California, with her husband, Dow. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
