Reed N. Wilcox: Mormon Businessman

Reed N. Wilcox is a business executive and college administrator. He was named president of Southern Virginia University in September 2014.

Wilcox cofounded Clene Nanomedicine, an advanced nanotechnology company; he will continue to serve on the Clene Board and as a senior advisor. Wilcox co-founded and was also the senior managing director of Clene’s parent company, General Resonance, where he led the malaria and infectious diseases initiatives since it began in 2006, and relocated to West Africa to live in Accra, Ghana in 2006 and 2007. He is a former worldwide partner and director of The Boston Consulting Group, co-founder and managing director of The Flagship Group, and CEO of The Lifelike Company. He holds 23 U.S. patents and has worked with companies and institutions in fields as diverse as aerospace, power engineering, medical devices, hospitals, cultural education, consumer products, and pharmaceuticals.

As a National Merit Scholar, Wilcox did undergraduate work at the University of California, Los Angeles, and then Brigham Young University, where he graduated summa cum laude in economics and with Highest Honors from the Honors Program. He also served as student body president. He completed the Harvard University JD/MBA Joint Program, earning a juris doctor degree cum laude from the Harvard Law School, and a master’s degree in business administration with High Distinction as a Baker Scholar from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.

He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and presided over the France Toulouse and Marseilles missions. He and his wife, Diane, are the parents of four children.
