Andrew Knaupp is a graphic designer who has worked in all aspects of commercial art. He is also a freelance illustrator.

He earned a BFA degree in visual arts design from Brigham Young University. He also studied at Pacific Northwest College of Art.

Knaupp has also worked as a writer, art director, designer, and producer of faith-based graphic novels. He and artist Sal Velluto created the graphic novel Pillar of Light: Joseph Smith’s First Vision to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Prophet’s First Vision. The volume is available in print through Cedar Fort Publishing.

"We were both very interested in telling this story in a way that had not been done before in the previous films or story adaptations,” he said. “We wanted to include details contained in the four official accounts that haven't been portrayed visually before. This included the presence of angels, the difficult battle with Satan, the influence of [Joseph Smith's] mother's personal testimony of her near-death experience, and the physical nature of the pillar of light.”[1]

Knaupp is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
