Elaine Christensen Mormon Poet

Elaine W. Christensen is the author of award-winning poetry collections. Her first book, At the Edges, won the 1990 Utah State Poetry Society book award. Her second book, I Have Learned Five Things (1996), won the National Federation of Poetry Societies’ Stevens manuscript contest in 1995.

He poems have also appeared in magazines and journals such as the Ensign, Dialogue, Weber Studies, Ellipsis, and Petroglyph. In 1990, one of her poems published in The Comstock Review placed first in the Muriel Craft Bailey Memorial Award contest.

Christensen was born in Germany in 1948. She earned her bachelor’s degree in German and English from Utah State University. She and her husband are the parents of five children. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served with her husband, Roger, when he presided over the California Long Beach Mission.
