Elizabeth Rennick: Mormon Musician

Elizabeth Ann Young Rennick is a music professor and oboist and founding member of Dolce Veloce, a flute-oboe-piano trio that actively tours the United States. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Rennick teaches oboe in the music department of music at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She has taught at Eastern Kentucky University, Kirkwood College, Snow College, and Coe College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in music with a major in woodwinds and her master’s degree in music with a performance and pedagogy major, both from Brigham Young University, where she studied under Geralyn Giovannetti. She earned her doctorate at the University of Iowa and studied under Mark Weiger.

She played in the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Orchestra and has served in the Cedar Rapids and Dubuque Symphony Orchestras (Iowa) and the Lexington Philharmonic (Kentucky). She has performed with numerous small ensembles, including the Madison Winds, the resident faculty quintet at Eastern Kentucky University, and the Lexington (Kentucky) Bach Choir. She has been selected to play in a number of conferences of the International Double Reed Society in 2005 (Austin), 2008 (Provo), and 2010 (Norman), and 2011 (Tempe).

Rennick has frequently worked with the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra and has been a resident faculty member of the Stephen Foster Music Camps, the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts, and Wyoming’s Music, Arts and Technology Festival.

Rennick and her husband, Jacob, are the parents of two daughters.
