Heidi Ashworth Mormon Author

Heidi Ashworth is a Regency romance novelist. She remembers reading a few words of her first Regency romance novel when she was four years old but didn’t read them again until she was twenty-five. She published her first novel, Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind, in 2008 and it climbed to the number one spot on several of Amazon’s Regency romance lists in the U.S. and England. The sequel, Miss Delacourt Has Her Day, was a 2011 Whitney Awards finalist. Lord Haversham Takes Command was a RONE Award nominee, and her anthology The Lord Who Sneered and Other Tales was a RONE Award finalist.

Her other novels include Miss Armistead Makes Her Choice, Lady Crenshaw’s Christmas, and the forthcoming A Midwinter Ball.

Ashworth describes the genre:

Most Regency-set historical romance is riddled with pornography and does not have the well-researched background that a true Regency Romance supplies its reader. Regency Romance was wildly popular in the 60s and 70s but as the more addictive sex-filled pornographic novels sold in bigger and bigger numbers and more and more Regency authors switched to historicals (otherwise known as “bodice rippers”) to garner the bigger paychecks, traditional Regency romance died.[1]

Ashworth is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is one of several LDS novelists who are writing Regency clean-reads in mainstream and LDS markets that are growing.

Ashworth and her husband, Roy, live in the San Francisco Bay area. They are the parents of three children.
