Jake Gibb: Mormon Athlete

Jacob “Jake” Spiker Gibb is an Olympic athlete and competed in beach volleyball at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympic Games. At the 2016 Olympics, Gibb and partner Casey Patterson tied for 19th place. He finished fifth with partner Sean Rosenthal at both the 2012 and 2008 Olympic Games.

He formed his current team with partner Casey Patterson during the 2013 season. Since then, they've won one gold medal, two silvers, and one bronze at FIVB Grand Slams (2014 bronze Stare Jablonki, 2013 gold Shanghai, silver Corrientes and Argentina).

He started playing volleyball when he was 21 years old. His twin brother, Coleman, was his first partner.

Gibb is a two-time cancer survivor. He had skin cancer in 2004 and in 2010 he found out he had testicular cancer from a USADA drug test.

Gibb was born on February 6, 1976, in Bountiful, Utah. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife, Jane, are the parents of two children. He earned a degree in business from the University of Utah.
