Jake Murphy

Jake Murphy is a former professional football tight end. He played football for the University of Utah, then decided not to complete his senior year to declare for the 2014 NFL draft. He was unselected but signed with the Oakland Raiders on May 10, 2014. In September 2014, he was signed to the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad, and then on November 3, he was signed to the practice squad of the Cincinnati Bengals. He was waived on August 19, 2015. He was claimed off waivers by the Denver Broncos on August 20, 2015, but was released on August 31, 2015.

Murphy was born on September 21, 1989, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is one of the sons of Dale Murphy. He served a full-time mission to Australia and he gained 50 pounds while on his mission. Before his mission he was a wide receiver and played for Brigham Young University. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
