L. Don LeFevre

Don LeFevre was a spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in public relations for the Church for thirty-six years, first with the David W. Evans & Associates advertising firm, and then with the Church when its own public relations office opened in 1973. As part of his responsibilities, LeFevre handled media questions about policy and doctrine, arranged for interviews, conducted press conferences and hosted national and international media visiting the Church in Salt Lake City. He was also public relations director for Church exhibits. In 1989 he became the Church’s director of media relations, and in 1993 became manager of print media and news service relations, a position he held until his retirement in January 1999. Before his long service with the Church, he worked for the Salt Lake Tribune and worked part-time for the Associated Press.

LeFevre, with his wife, Bonnie, served as director of the Laie Hawaii Temple Visitors’ Center. She passed away on January 14, 2017, and he died on February 20, 2019. They were the parents of five children.

LeFevre was born on October 6, 1933, in Murray, Utah. He served in the U.S. Army, served as a full-time missionary for the Church, and graduated from the University of Utah.
