Sami Hill:Mormon Athlete
Samantha Nan Sieni Hill is a water polo goalkeeper. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was born on June 8, 1992, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She played water polo for her Santa Barbara, California, high school, Dos Pueblos High School, where she was a four-year member of the varsity team winning three CIF titles, two at Division 1 level and one at Division 2. In her senior season the team went 31-0, winning the CIF Division 1 championship.
She competed for UCLA and helped the Bruins to a NCAA Championship match and runner-up finish in 2014 and 2015. She led UCLA to a 2013 NCAA Tournament third-place finish. During her sophomore year, she was red shirted in order to train with the national team. As a freshman, she shared goal time and helped her team to third-place finish at NCAA Championships. She also earned All-MPSF newcomer honors.
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she helped her team to a second consecutive Olympic gold medal with six saves. She helped Team USA qualify for the Olympics with 18 goals.
