Tony Moeaki: Mormon Athlete

Anthony “Tony” Moeaki is a professional football player, currently with the Atlanta Falcons. He played with the Seattle Seahawks in their Super Bowl XLIX loss.

Moeaki was born on June 8, 1987, in Wheaton, Illinois. He played football and basketball at Warrenville South High School and football at the University of Iowa. He was drafted in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He scored his first NFL touchdown in his first NFL game on September 13, 2010. In a later game, he achieved 44 receiving yards and a one-handed touchdown grab that won him the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week award. In the 2011 season, he sustained an injury during a preseason game, which put him out for the 2011 season. Due to a fractured shoulder in 2013, he was waived on August 31, 2013. He cleared waivers and was added to the Chiefs' injured reserve list. On October 23, he reached an injury settlement was reached and he became a free agent. In December 2013, he signed with the Buffalo Bills but was released during August 2014. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks on November 4. On March 19, 2015, he signed with the Atlanta Falcons.
