James W. McConkie III
James W. McConkie III was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 2022, at age 50. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a stake president.
Elder McConkie has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Czech Prague Mission, Sunday School teacher, counselor in an elders quorum presidency, ward Young Men president, counselor in a bishopric, high councilor, bishop, president of the Czech/Slovak Mission from 2013 to 2016, and ward mission leader.
James Wilson McConkie III was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on August 27, 1971. He married Laurel Springer in 1995. They are the parents of four children.
McConkie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Utah in 1995. In 1999 he received a Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School. He was as an attorney/shareholder with Prince Yeates until his call as a mission president in 2013. From 2009 to 2012, he also worked as an adjunct instructor of Business Law at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. At the time of his call as a General Authority, he had been working as an attorney/shareholder with Workman Nydegger. He is a founder and director for the Wallace Toronto Foundation, a nonprofit providing assistance in the Czech and Slovak Republics.
