Sarah Sun was crowned Miss Utah in June 2023. She was also voted Miss Congeniality. She is the first Asian American and woman of color to be crowned Miss Utah. She will represent Utah at the Miss America Competition.

Sarah is a concert pianist and has performed with Utah Symphony, Henan Provincial Symphony Orchestra and has been a soloist at Carnegie Hall. She is the daughter of Xun Sun, the director of orchestral activities at Southern Utah University, and his wife, SUU adjunct professor Ling Sun. Sarah started playing the piano at age 4 and has spent the majority of her life developing her musical talents. She was raised in Cedar City, Utah.

She is an incoming private equity intern at Leavitt Equity Partners.

Prior to being baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2018 and serving a full-time missionary in California, she worked on a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University. She transferred to Brigham Young University where she is working to earn a bachelor’s degree in music. She plans to attend Harvard Law School.
