On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct a temple in Londrina, Brazil. The temple is the 17th announced temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Brazil.[1]

Londrina, Brazil is a city located in the state of Paraná in southeastern Brazil. The state is home to Iguaçu Falls, with hundreds of cascades straddling the border with Argentina and Paraguay. This will be the second temple in the state of Paraná with the first temple in Curitiba. There are 1.5 million Latter-day Saints in Brazil in more than 2,100 congregations.[2]

Location

The Londrina Brazil Temple is currently in the planning stages. The Londrina Brazil Temple will be built at Avenida: Harry Prochet, S/N, Jardim São Jorge, Londrina, Paraná, Brazil. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 32,000 square feet.[3]

Groundbreaking Date Set

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the groundbreaking date for the Londrina Brazil Temple. A groundbreaking service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Elder Ciro Schmeil, First Counselor in the Brazil Area Presidency, will preside and offer a dedicatory prayer.[4]
