Lisa Olsen Tait

Lisa Olsen Tait is a historian and writer who specializes in women’s history. She works for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Church History Department.

She holds a PhD in American Literature and Women’s Studies at the University of Houston. Her dissertation and several subsequent publications are on Latter-day Saint women’s response to the gendered and generational crises of the 1890s.

Her long-term project is a biography of Susa Young Gates. She is writing (with Kate Holbrook) a history of the Young Women’s organization. She has served as a review editor for Saints.

Lisa serves as co-chair of the Mormon Women’s History Initiative Team (MWHIT), an independent group that promotes research and sharing of Latter-day Saint women’s history among scholars and in the community at large.

Lisa taught religion classes at BYU for three years and worked with issues surrounding young people and faith crises.

Lisa and her husband, Mike, has four children and lives in Highland.
