Yolanda Camacho

Yolanda Camacho is a chiropractor from Costa Rica who is more widely known as the organizer and managing director of the Women’s Under-17 World Cup soccer tournament held in 2013.

Camacho is a lifelong soccer fan and spent many years volunteering at soccer events in Costa Rica. For the Women’s Under-17 tournament, she spent three years meticulously planning the two-week event that would host teams from thirty-two nations. Costa Rica was the first Central American nation to host a World Cup tournament.

Camacho joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1971. She credits decades of Church service as a source that helped her oversee the key administrative aspects of the competition.

She lives in Alajuela with her husband, Gregory Kortman. Their two adult children, Francis and Jessica, live in the United States.
