Kenneth Packer: Mormon Artist
Kenneth William Packer is a designer at the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum at Brigham Young University and a bronze sculptor. He was the designer of an exhibit highlighting his father, President Boyd K. Packer’s work that includes a replica of his living room and a wooden mantel that he carved with pioneer wagons and sego lilies. This mantel was a family project that took two years to create. President Packer carved and painted birds and other scenes from nature.
Kenneth Packer studied art at Boston College and BYU. His sculptures include western, wildlife, and historical figures. He spent many summer hours on his grandfather’s ranch in Wyoming where he came to understand the physiology and character of the animals and men around him. He often portrays the hardships and sacrifices of his pioneer heritage.
