Sam Nielson Mormon Illustrator

Samuel Nielson is an illustrator and concept artist. He is an assistant teaching professor at Brigham Young University in the Department of Design. He also illustrates occasionally for publishers.

At a young age, Nielson started drawing for his brother when the two worked to create their own video games. At the age of sixteen, he began working for a video game company. After serving a mission, marrying, and starting his family, he earned a bachelor’s degree in animation from BYU. He later worked as a part-time teacher in the animation program. In 2014 he became an assistant teaching professor for the Visual Arts Department.

For many years, Nielson worked as a concept artist for Avalanche Software, Disney Interactive Studios, in Salt Lake City.

Nielson and his wife have four children and live in Utah. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
