Adam and Eve were the first man and woman to live on this earth and are the common ancestors of all humanity. They are two of the greatest of Heavenly Father's children. God placed Adam and Eve on the earth and joined them as husband and wife. They eventually chose to disobey a commandment that God gave them not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Thus they voluntarily decided to enter a mortal state - to "fall" and be cut off from God's presence. In so doing, Adam and Eve also enabled us to come to earth to receive bodies and to be tested regarding our level of devotion and obedience to the plan of salvation.

Adam and Eve will receive eternal life together for helping to enable the eternal progress of all humankind.

In Hebrew, "Eve" means "life."
