W. Mack Lawrence was called to serve in the Second Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in December 1990 and sustained in April 1991 at General Conference. He was released in October 1996.

Lawrence was born on October 28, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah. When he was in fourth grade, his family moved to Provo, where he graduated from high school. He served in the military during World War II and then studied business at the University of Utah. After he earned his degree, he began working with a telephone company. He worked for nearly forty years with US West Communications, where he was the company’s Utah vice president and chief executive officer.

He also served in the community in such positions as chairman of the building fund campaign for the Primary Children’s Medical Center. He was a member of the board of directors of the Utah Symphony and he served as chairman of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the executive committee of the Utah Foundation.

He has served in the Church as a stake missionary, stake mission president’s counselor, bishop, high councilor, and regional representative.

Lawrence and his wife, Jackie, are the parents of three children.
