Robert R. Steuer

Robert R. Steuer served as a General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Second Quorum of the Seventy from April 2001 to October 2008. He served as a bishop, elders quorum president, stake mission president, and high councilor. He was an Institute of Religion instructor and served a full-time mission to Brazil. He also presided over the Brazil Sao Paulo North Mission.

Steuer was born on December 6, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Although his parents never joined the Church, they allowed him to be baptized at the age of nine after they saw the good influence the Church and his LDS friends had on him. His family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, when he was thirteen. After his mother died two years later, his father moved the family to Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He completed his internship at Santa Clara County Hospital in California had his residency at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He practiced medicine for four years before he began his research on the development of electronic diagnostic devices. He founded and became chairman of the board of HermaMetrics, Inc.

He and his wife, Margaret, are the parents of five children.
