Bronson Kaufusi is a professional football defensive end for the New York Jets. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft. He signed a four-year contract, but after breaking his ankle in training camp, he missed the entire 2016 season. He was waived by the Ravens on September 1, 2018.
On September 3, 2018, he was signed to the practice squad of the New York Jets and promoted to active roster on October 1, 2018. He was waived on October 5, then re-signed to the practice squad. On December 8, he was promoted to the active roster.
He played for both the Brigham Young University football and basketball teams.
Kaufusi is the son of Steve Kaufusi, a former defensive line coach at BYU, and Michelle Kaufusi, mayor of Provo, Utah. He is married to the former Hilary Smith, who played soccer for BYU. He served a full time mission to Auckland, New Zealand, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He said his mission and his parents have taught him a lot. “At a young age and as a football player I learned you reap what you sow,” Bronson said. “I took a lot of things from my mission. You set goals, planning, time management, planning is really big. You learn how to handle it.”[1]
