Jamie Ford: Mormon Author
James “Jamie” Ford is a bestselling, award-winning author. He is best known for his first novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, which won Best Adult Fiction at the 2010 Asian/Pacific American Awards for Literature. The book was also named the #1 Book Club Pick for Fall 2009/Winter 2010 by the American Booksellers Association. It has been translated into over thirty languages. His second book, Songs of Willow Frost, was published in 2013. Both books have been on the New York Times Bestseller List. His shorter works appear in Secret Identities: The Asian American Superhero Anthology, and Shattered: The Asian American Comics Anthology.
Ford was born on July 9, 1968, in Eureka, California and raised in the Pacific Northwest in Ashland, Oregon, and Seattle and Port Orchard, Washington. His paternal great grandfather, Min Chung (a mining pioneer), changed his name to William Ford after he immigrated to America in 1865. Ford’s mother is of European descent.
Ford was the subject of a question on long-running American television show Jeopardy: “A Bestseller by Jamie Ford is ‘Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and’ this." He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
