Julianne Donaldson: Mormon Author
Julianne Donaldson is a historical romance novelist. She is the daughter of a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot who moved his family throughout the world. Moving frequently while growing up allowed her some romantic experiences, such as living next door to a 500-year old castle, learning to ski in the Italian Alps, and visiting East Berlin before the wall came down.
After she graduated from high school in Las Vegas, Nevada, she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in English (with a minor in music) from Brigham Young University. After she and her husband had four children, she began to write. Her novels, Edenbrooke and Blackmoore were published in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Edenbrooke won the 2014 Dama Prize for the best historical romance. She gave birth to a fifth child and continues to write.
Donaldson has debuted at a time when Regency clean-reads are being offered by national as well as LDS publishing houses. Donaldson is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and other LDS authors in this genre include Sarah M. Eden, Carla Kelly, G. G. Vandagriff and Wanda Luce. Regencies are set in the same time period of England that Jane Austen wrote in. They emphasize humor, love, family values, and the rules of society.
