Scott Piercy: Mormon Athlete

Scott Piercy is an American professional golfer. After turning pro in 2001, Piercy has won two PGA tour events and finished eleven times in the top 10. As of 2015, he’s the number 93-ranked golfer in the world.

On the PGA Tour in 2011, he was close to winning Rookie of the Year Reno Tahoe Open. His RBC Canadian Open win allowed him his first entry into 2013 Masters Tournament. He was out of the PGA Tour for a few months in 2014 recovering from elbow surgery. In April 2015, he tied the course record at the Shell Houston Open, hoping to advance to the Masters again.

In 2007 he won the made for TV event, “The Ultimate Game,” and $2 million, the largest first place winnings in the history of golf.

He was born on November 6, 1978, and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. He played golf for one year at Brigham Young University before transferring to San Diego State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in public administration. While at SDSU, he won two tournaments and lettered three years.

He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife, Sara, are the parents of three sons.
