Sarah Sample Mormon Singer

Sarah Sample is a folksinger and songwriter. She grew up in California in a musical home and remembers writing songs in grade school. Her mother gave her an old guitar when she was in sixth grade. She also took piano, voice, and ballet lessons.

Her family moved to Utah when Sarah was seventeen and she graduated from East High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music therapy from Utah State University. She also completed a one-year internship in Texas.

She is pursuing her dream of singing on stage, which her husband, James McDonald, supports. They are the parents of two children.

She has won several songwriting awards at folk and bluegrass festivals. Sarah was the first place winner in the Singer/Songwriter Awards for her song "Calling Your Name." She has produced CDs and has contributed to several Deseret Book CDs produced by Scott Wiley. She has been working closely with songwriter Edie Carey to produce the album ‘Til the Morning: Lullabies and Songs of Comfort.

Sarah is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
