Tiffany Lott Hogan: Mormon Athlete

Tiffany Lott Hogan is an Olympic athlete who competes in the heptathlon event. She finished 20th in the heptathlon at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games held in Athens, Greece. She competed three years after having had her first child and says that “nothing was harder in my life as an athlete than coming back from pregnancy.”[1] Previously she had won the gold medal in heptathlon at the 2003 Pan American Games and the NCAA championship in both 1997 and 1998 while at Brigham Young University. She was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.

She was born on August 1, 1975, in Tucson, Arizona and was reared in Leeds, Utah. She earned her bachelor’s degree in recreation management from Brigham Young University in 1998. While at BYU in 1997, she broke the NCAA and world record in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.30 and went on to win the NCAA title. She also won two NCAA Championships in the heptathlon (1997, 1998). She was a 10-time NCAA All-American at BYU and was inducted into the BYU Hall of Fame in 2008.

In 2015, she became the assistant coach for the Weber State University men’s and women’s teams. For nine years previously she coached high school track and field—she was head girls coach at Desert Hills High School in St. George. She helped lead the Desert Hills boys team to two state titles and coached four state record holders. She has also worked as a strength coach at BYU and spent one season coaching track at Idaho State.

She is married to Brent Hogan and they live in Utah with their three children. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
